Please review these requirements each term to make sure
you stay on track.
MFA Requirements 90 credits - minimum 54 graduate
credits 6 terms full-time
Core Courses
4-6 terms ART 612 Graduate Critique Colloquium (offered Winter
and Spring terms)
2 terms graduate-level Art History courses
1 term theory seminar (ART 507 or 607) offered by the
Department of Art; or other university theory course approved
by your advisor
2-3 terms Issues & Practices (offered every fall term)
Other Requirements Include
18 credits ART() 609 Terminal Creative Project (taken during final year)
Terminal Creative Project Report
Terminal Creative Project Exhibition
Required Committee Meetings
- 2 grad reviews - 1 before reclass, 1 before term project review
- Reclassification meeting
- 1 terminal project proposal meeting
- 1 progress meeting - additional meetings as needed
- 1 final terminal project review
Before Reclassification Meeting
- Completion of coursework to remedy any background deficiencies
- 1 graduate review
- At least 2 of the required core courses
- 30 credits of coursework completed toward MFA.
Reclassification Committee
- No fewer than 3 members.
- At least 1 member must be from another discipline of department.
- Members external of the department are non-voting.
Terminal Project Committee
- No fewer than 3 members.
- Advisor as chair.
- 2 other departmental faculty members including at least one outside of area.
- Can include 1 faculty member from another department as 4th member.
