Degrees Offered

UO Art students have the opportunity to explore a broad range of contemporary art practices – in ceramics, digital media, drawing, fibers, jewelry and metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Emphasis is both on the development of hands-on technical skills and material processes, as well as a conceptual and critical understanding of the cultural context of art. The Department of Art prepares students to think critically, communicate clearly, and work creatively.

Among the most popular degrees at the University of Oregon, two different majors, Art and Digital Arts are offered at the BA/BS undergraduate level. The professional baccalaureate degree, the Bachelor of Fine Arts, requires an additional, fifth year of studio intensive work. For the BFA degree, students major in a specific media area.
